A bird banded and photographed in the hand at Rockport 5 May 1983 was positively this species. However, the Committee did not accept this report because of the known illegal trade in this species and the possibility that the bird was not of wild origin. There are two previous records of this species in Massachusetts, one each in 1904 and 1969, also of uncertain origin.
